PEMF for Foot and Ankle Pain

Fibromyalgia Clinic in Herndon, VA:  Fibromyalgia can take away the joy of life. The constant pain and discomfort is so tiring. Everything from the simplest daily activities to the special things that you love to do are affected. There is hope. PEMF therapy can help relieve the symptoms of fibromyalgia both at the local area of pain as well as systemically. At the local area of pain, PEMF reduces irritation and helps improve cell health. Systemically, PEMF improves blood flow and the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood stream. The improved blood flow brings more oxygen to all the cells of the body and results in better health.

We want you to see for yourself how PEMF can help you. I invite you to try PEMF  to see if you can be helped. Our Special Introduction 3 Hour Premium Pro Starter pack consisting of three one hour appointments and a consultation for $99. Based on your case and how your respond to the therapy we will suggest the package or options that are best suited for your health care goals.

Exposure to a specific pulsed low-frequency magnetic field: a double-blind placebo-controlled study of effects on pain ratings in rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia patients.
Shupak NM1, McKay JC, Nielson WR, Rollman GB, Prato FS, Thomas AW.

Abstract
BACKGROUND:
Specific pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) have been shown to induce analgesia (antinociception) in snails, rodents and healthy human volunteers.

OBJECTIVE:
The effect of specific PEMF exposure on pain and anxiety ratings was investigated in two patient populations.

CONCLUSION:
These findings provide some initial support for the use of PEMF exposure in reducing pain in chronic pain populations and warrants continued investigation into the use of PEMF exposure for short-term pain relief

Low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field–a viable alternative therapy for arthritis.

Abstract
Arthritis refers to more than 100 disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The existing pharmacological interventions for arthritis offer only symptomatic relief and they are not definitive and curative. Magnetic healing has been known from antiquity and it is evolved to the present times with the advent of electromagnetism. The original basis for the trial of this form of therapy is the interaction between the biological systems with the natural magnetic fields. Optimization of the physical window comprising the electromagnetic field generator and signal properties (frequency, intensity, duration, waveform) with the biological window, inclusive of the experimental model, age and stimulus has helped in achieving consistent beneficial results. Low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) can provide noninvasive, safe and easy to apply method to treat pain, inflammation and dysfunctions associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA) and PEMF has a long term record of safety. This review focusses on the therapeutic application of PEMF in the treatment of these forms of arthritis.

The analysis of various studies (animal models of arthritis, cell culture systems and clinical trials) reporting the use of PEMF for arthritis cure has conclusively shown that PEMF not only alleviates the pain in the arthritis condition but it also affords chondroprotection, exerts antiinflammatory action and helps in bone remodeling and this could be developed as a viable alternative for arthritis therapy.

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial using a low-frequency magnetic field in the treatment of musculoskeletal chronic pain.

Abstract
Exposure to a specific pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) has been shown to produce analgesic (antinociceptive) effects in many organisms. In a randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled clinical trial, patients with either chronic generalized pain from fibromyalgia (FM) or chronic localized musculoskeletal or inflammatory pain were exposed to a PEMF (400 microT) through a portable device fitted to their head during twice-daily 40 min treatments over seven days. The effect of this PEMF on pain reduction was recorded using a visual analogue scale. A differential effect of PEMF over sham treatment was noticed in patients with FM, which approached statistical significance (P=0.06) despite low numbers (n=17); this effect was not evident in those without FM (P=0.93; n=15). PEMF may be a novel, safe and effective therapeutic tool for use in at least certain subsets of patients with chronic, nonmalignant pain. Clearly, however, a larger randomized, double-blind clinical trial with just FM patients is warranted.
