How I Lost 75 Pounds With Ideal Protein-And Kept it Off!

In 2008 I looked like this:

In 2008, I was introduced to Ideal Protein. I immediately liked the fact that it was well researched and developed by a medical doctor, Dr Tran Tien Chanh who specialized in the pancreas and blood sugar regulation. I also liked the fact that the physiology behind the diet made perfect sense to me and addressed the issues that I had experienced with my previous weight loss attempts. The eating plan is a combination of Ideal Protein foods, regular protein and vegetables. To me this was great because I could still eat dinner with my family or even go out to dinner. Breakfast, lunch and snacks were Ideal Protein foods so I did not have to weigh 3 oz of this or measure two tablespoons of that. I liked that convenience. So the program seemed like the best of both worlds. I decided to try the program and I lost 75 pounds in about six months. Was the diet easy , of course not !, did I lose my desire for Haagen Dazs- unfortunately not BUT as a guy I was losing 10-15 pounds per month ( the average woman loses 8-10 ) so the 2-3 pounds I lost every week was both encouraging and motivating to me to stay the course. And now ten years later I look like this:

Never in a million years did I think I would not only lose 75 pounds but keep it off for ten years! Now I work out, I bike , and my joint pains are almost completely gone. Now when I travel, the tour groups are sometimes to slow. I can swing a golf club normally but sadly, losing weight did not cure my slice. But now at least I can walk to find the ball – typically in the trees! I love the transformation.

While I was losing weight, many patients noticed the change. Many asked if I could help them with their weight loss goals so in late 2008 I introduced Ideal Protein to the Northern Virginia area. At that time we were the first Ideal Protein location. Now there are many. However I feel that my combination of personal experience and medical knowledge give me a unique perspective. I would have had difficulty receiving coaching from someone who has never struggled with weight loss. An individual can have the necessary knowledge about the logistics of the Ideal Protein protocol. But only personal experience can help a coach understand the internal/ emotional/ behavioral aspects of weight loss.
